Ancient "Rubon" in Polatsk (photo)

The re-enactors of the ancient Belarusian inheritance in Polatsk were forced to entertain themselves in the cold under pouring rain this year. However, this did not upset them much - the knights and their women are used to cold. They only complained about such small number of participants - the majority arrived to Polatsk from the capital, some from Vitsebsk and Hrodna. The most far-away guests were from Smalensk. Meanwhile, the knights wanted to fight with the French, the German and the Spanish, like in the past. However, these are different times, the knights say and fight with just each other.

One of the contests - arrow shooting into a moving target.

It was raining from time to time and this made the participants of the festival dry their clothes near the fires.

They showed almost real fight at "Rubon".

There were not many viewers, but they were the most devoted ones.

There were no falling heads at the battlefield, but the teeth fell easily :)

The most successful knights were awarded with cute girlfriends.

...while the arms and the equipment of the less successful ones were sold for nothing.

There were many talismans available for purchase at the festival, made of both real and artificial gold.

Even the police tried something on.

Bugurt - the mass fight between the armed knights.

And "Batleyka" street theatre -- for less vigorous and aggressive.
