XXX Summer Olympics Closing Ceremony takes place in London

The Olympic Flame became dim at 11.59 p.m. BST (1.59 a.m. FET). The Olympic Torch consisted of 205 petals – the number of participating states. The sports delegations will take the petals home, notes BelaPAN.

302 sets of medals were awarded during the 16 days of the competitions. Belarus has taken the 23rd position in the unofficial medal rankings (and 18th according to the number of medals). Our sportsmen have won 13 medals - three gold, five silver and five bronze medals.

The next Olympic Games will be held in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro in 2016. Brazilians presented their country with the help of legendary football player Pelé at the closing ceremony of the sports event in London.
