Raman Yakauleuski: Belarus' self-isolation enhanced

Dozens of thousands of people went out into Minsk streets on the day of the presidential election. The protest action was brutally dispersed and hundreds of people were detained.

"Belarus' self-isolation has enhanced and the fact that the Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs is a persona non-grata in the USA and EU testifies to it. This is a result of December 19, 2010," Raman Yakaleuski said.

The terms set by Brussels are known very well: the relations with the official Minsk may be normalized only after the release and rehabilitation of all political prisoners, Yakaluleuski noted.

Five people connected with the Square are still in jail although two years has passed since the election: ex-candidate Mikalai Statkevich, head of Vital Rymasheuski's team Pavel Sevyarynets, Young Front members Zmitser Dashkevich and Edward Lobau and Vasil Parfyankou pardoned by Lukashenka and imprisoned again for a violation of the preventive surveillance rules.
