"Minsktrans" thinks there will be less stowaways when fines grow
City traffic workers have said this to Euroradio.
Let us remind you, the base fee will make
Br 100 thousand since April 1. The fine for ticketless travel makes 20% of it,
which is Br 20 thousand. At present, the fine for ticketless travel in the
public transport now makes Br 7 thousand. In the opinion of the head of
"Minsktrans" control-revision service, this increase will reflect on
the so-called "professional stowaways".
"Minsktrans": "We haven't conducted any special researches, but it would indeed be more complicated. The fine will grow by three times. Whatever you may say, 20 thousand roubles is also certain money".
However, the sum of the fine has no significant meaning for the traffic workers' budget: these payments go for the state's benefit. Besides, representatives of "Minsktrans" say that the number of caught stowaways has not greatly decreased for the last year - about 15-17 thousand a month.
