Pub: We have imported beer but tourists want… Belarusian

It is ‘recommended’ to sell only Belarusian beer at the hockey championship. The recommendation has resulted in the disappearance of imported beer from shops.

“Our restaurant network offers imported beer. But foreigners also buy Belarusian beer, they like Lidskoye. However, most of them prefer Czech and Belgian beer. They order Belarusian beer because they want to taste it,” beer restaurant Tsvik told Euroradio. The restaurant is full of foreigners even in the afternoon.

Euroradio also found imported beer for 50-60 thousand roubles in the Minsk pub Gashtset.

“However, foreigners order Belarusian beer because they do not have much money,” the pub administration said. Belarusian beer is cheaper!

There is a wide selection for imported beer in the pub Gambrinus in Freedom Square. There is Belarusian beer too. But the pub refused to comment on the situation:

“We do not control this market,” they replied.

The pub Staraya Piunitsa only offers Belarusian beer. They do not want to risk…

“There was an order to offer only Belarusian beer. Most of the foreigners visiting the pub are Russians. They like Belarusian beer and say that they thought that it would be worse,” the pub told Euroradio.

“The beer recommendation does not affect pubs, it is their specialization,” Minsk City Executive Committee replied cautiously.

The Ministry for Trade explained the disappearance for imported beer by ‘a Belarusian beer advertising campaign’.

Everyone drinks Belarusian beer in the fan zones because of this campaign. No other beer is sold there.
