A new MAZ bus plant is planned to be launched in early 2025. It will produce buses of the "third generation" (with a unified frame design, but different types of engines: diesel, gas and electric), minsknews.by reports.

MAZ calls the completion of the plant construction "the main strategic goal". In the next few years it should become the "pearl of the Minsk Automobile Plant".

"Next year we will produce not one and a half thousand, but three thousand units," says the First Deputy Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee Nadzeya Lazarevich.

In the fall of 2022 it was announced that MAZ would build a new plant for the assembly of buses. The project was financed by the Minsk authorities (together with the Ministry of Industry).

Meanwhile, MAZ buses keep catching fire in Belarus and Russia. The reason is believed to be Western sanctions: foreign components were replaced with "similar" ones at the production plant. The Russian side claims that Chinese components are not as reliable as European ones. Against this backdrop, sales of MAZ buses in Russia have fallen by almost 20 times.
