North Iraq blast, 9 dead

The bomb exploded when people were leaving a mosque after the prayer dated for Kurban Bayram. Nine people were killed and 19 were wounded.

Kurban Bayram is an important religious holiday in Islam – Muslims started marking in on Tuesday. The holiday is marked on October 15-17 this year.

Kirkuk is 250 kilometres away from Baghdad, the capital of Iraq. One of the world’s biggest oilfields is situated nearby.
