New state holiday proposed

A new state holiday -- the Day of Unification of the Belarusian People -- has been proposed by the Belarusian Officers' Union and the Communist Party of Bearus. On September 17, 1939 following a deal with Germany, the Soviet troops entered the territories of the westen Belarus -- then a part of the Polish state -- and unified them with the Soviet Bearus.

It was tragic at times, because the Soviet security service NKVD carried out an all-out clean-up operation which affected dozens of thousands people.
