Monument to Sherlock Holms to be unveiled in Moscow

A bronze monument to Sherlock Holms and Doctor Watson will be unveiled on Friday April 27 in front of the British embassy building in Moscow.

Sculptor Andrei Orlov used the prototypes created by Sydney Padgett, the first illustrator of adventures by the famous detective. But, according to the press office of the Dialogue of Cultures – One World Foundation, which spearheaded the project, Arthur Konan Doyle’s characters will also bear features, resembling them with Vasily Livanov and Vitaly Solomin, the cult Russian actors who played the renowned detective and his friend on the Russian screen.

In terms of a composition, the monument will look as follows: Doctor Watson is sitting on a bench, while Sherlock Holms is standing in front of him. There will be some free space between them in order to give an opportunity to visitors to take pictures together with their favorites characters.
