Kerch: Russians demand that Ukrainian marines surrender by March 16
Ukrainian soldiers have been promised Russian wages and other preferences. Russia is going to use force if they refuse.
Head of the Crimean media centre of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense Vladislav Seleznyov has informed about the Russians’ demand, censor.net.ua reports.
The ultimatum was pronounced by Major General of the Russian Black Sea Fleet Alexander Ostrikov on March 9. About 60 marines from Feodosiya have already joined the Russian Fleet, he said. He also promised to use force in case of Ukrainian marines’ refusal.
The Crimean referendum on annexation is appointed for March 16. The Ukrainian authorities announced it illegitimate. The western states will also refuse to recognize its results.
