All swine face destruction in 4 more districts in Belarus

The territory of Lyakhavichy district has been added to the 40-km zone set right after the outbreak of the African swine fever in the village of Chapun in Iuye district. According to tut.by, this district was declared the ASF threat No 1 zone. Baranavichy, Ivatsevichy and Pruzhany districts were included into the so-called buffer area.



On July 31, the local authorities of Baranavichy and Lyakhavichy districts held consultatations dedicated to the African swine fever outburst. It was decided to set a prophylactic area where officials will approach local residents to make them kill all their pigs.



Officials fro Ivatsevichy and Pruzhany rural councils say it is prohibited to keep swine in private farmsteads in the both districts.


 

Written noitices appeared in the villages of Baranavichy district, saying the district was declared a buffer zone, hence it is necessary to have all swine destroyed by August 4. Otherwise, "a fine will be imposed and the swine will be confiscated for utilization."
