Two official languages promised in Crimea

Hardly anyone speaks Ukrainian in Crimea – less than 1% of the population, the politician told RIA Novosti.

Only two languages are used in everyday life in Crimea, Aksyonov said – Russian and Crimean Tatar: “Naturally, everyone will be able to use their own language; we are not going to restrict Crimean Tatars in any way. The republic will certainly be bilingual.”

The Ukraine language issue discussion will be put off, the politician noted: “If there is a real need, we will certainly consider the issue.”

By the way, the official Kiev  does not recognize Aksyonov’s power and calls him a self-styled head of the autonomy.
