Zmitser Bandarenka’s sentence not to be commuted

According to “Charter’97”, a third of the political prisoner’s term passed on August 20. That is why he has the right for commutation of sentence. The commutation and parole commission had to consider Bandarenka’s case.

Volha Bandarenka had received a letter before the commission arrived at Mahilyou colony. Her husband informed her that it was necessary to send a request of the organization that would agree to hire him, a reference from the police and from the job centre to the colony. Volha Bandarenka prepared everything but did not manage to send the documents in time. It turned out that the prison censorship service had delayed the political prisoner’s letter by a week. As a result, Bandarenka was refused for formal reasons.
