Swedish PEN-club awards prize to Uladzimir Nyaklyayeu

The Swedish PEN-club has been awarding the Tuholski Prize since 1985. Such writers as Salman Rushdie are among its laureates.

The prize has been awarded to Nyaklyayeu as a writer and a human rights defender, informs belaruslitteratur.blogspot.com.

The awards ceremony is appointed for tonight. However, Nyaklyayeu will not attend it because he is forbidden to leave the country. Still, two Belarusian writers will be present at the ceremony – head of the Belarusian PEN-centre Andrei Hadanovich and Svyatlana Aleksiyevich.
