Navasyad urges Swedish Parliament to support Belarusian political prisoners
The head of the steering committee for the creation for the Freedom and Progress Party Uladzimir Navasyad made a report on the situation in Belarus
in the Swedish Parliament on March 3.
The biggest part for the politician’s speech was dedicated to the tragic fate of Belarusian political prisoners and to mass post-election repressions, informs BelaPAN.
"I am addressing the Swedish authorities and the European community and asking them not to leave political prisoners and their families alone with the problem. The things happening in Belarus now are absurd. I believe in your solidarity and principal position. I believe that you will not leave democratic activists alone with their problem”, - said Navasyad to Swedish parliamentarians.
"The immediate release of all Belarusian political prisoners should remain the main demand of the international democratic community. The other democratic activists and independent Belarusian mass media also need European solidarity and support”, - noted Navasyad.
The Belarusian politician also conducted a number of meetings in the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and met representatives of NGOs.
