Lithuanian customs recently reported seizing a record number of smuggled cigarettes from Belarus. In total, it is 672 thousand packs worth over €2.6 million. It took about two weeks for the officers to count the smuggled cigarettes.
A freight train from Belarus was checked at the station in Vilnius. The contraband was found in three carriages - boxes of cigarettes were hidden in large bags of sunflower pellets.
This is the largest intercepted smuggled cargo in Lithuania since 2000.
