Currency purchase fee cancelled in Belarus

The foreign currency purchase fee has been decreased from 10% to 0% for exchange transactions today. The Council of Ministers has made the decision.

The same is expected to happen to the fee introduced for the public – it is still 10% now. The National Bank will have to do it.

A 30% foreign currency purchase fee was introduced in Belarus on December 20. It was decreased to 20% on December 30 and to 10% – on January 6. The fee was intended to stop the foreign currency buying craze in Belarus.

The information about the decrease to 10% appeared on January 5. The National Bank also decreased the fee for the population. However, there is no information about another decrease on the website of the National Bank at the moment.
