Belarus plays down alcohol consumption rankings

WHO announced that with 17.5 litres per person a year, Belarus was the planet’s leader in alcohol consumption:

Our country is not the leader, it is ‘somewhere in Top 20’, chief narcologist of the Ministry of Health Ivan Kanazarau told Belarus 1. The alcohol consumption is 11.14 litres per person in Belarus, he said. “The index has dropped by 11.25%  against 2012,” BELTA quotes Kanazarau as saying.

However, it is necessary to limit the accessibility of alcohol anyway, the chief narcologist noted.
