Belarus football federation tells police to cool down against fans

Сафар'ян: МУС не хоча чуць нашы прапановы наконт фанатаў

Press-conference of the First Deputy Chairman of the Football Federation Siarhei Safaryan was held in the House of Football on October 28. The sports official commented on the situation with the fans who were detained during the match between Belarus and Macedonia. The police detained three fans for wearing scarves with "Pursuit" but said that they cursed and did not obey the demands of the law enforcement officers.

Safaryan noted that the Federation cannot influence this situation, since the Interior Ministry would not share the information: "There was a private letter, which stated that we do not support these actions. This incident is not finished..."

However, he also noted that the Football Federation has a proposal regarding the situation, but the Interior Ministry would not listen to it. According to Safaryan, Chairman of the BFF Siarhei Rumas will meet with Interior Minister Ihar Shunevich to discuss the issue with him personally.

"We do not want to dishonest actions to be taken against the fans," the Pressball quoted Safaryan as saying. The Football Federation is interested in increasing the number of fans and improving the attitude of police officers towards them. "We want impartial people to testify in court, not police officers," explained the official.
