Varlamau to remain under house arrest for 8 more months

Sasha Varlamau was sentenced to 5 years of restriction of liberty and confiscation of property on July 23. Lawyer Tamara Sidarenka told Euroradio:

“According to articles 74 and 75 of the Criminal Code, one day in jail is equal to two days of restriction of liberty.”

Thus, five years of house arrest is equal to 2.5 years in prison. Sasha Varlamau was jailed in mid-May of 2011. He spent 26 months in jail, he said.

It means that Sasha Varlamau will have to spend 8 more months under house arrest.
