“Reporters without borders” condemn detention of Euroradio journalist

“Reporters without borders” monitors violations of journalists’ rights all over the world. On July 28, the organization disseminated a statement called “A journalist facing jail sentence”, enlisting the facts of the latest arrests and detentions of the press representatives in Belarus.

The statement tells about the circumstances of harassment and detention of Euroradio’s correspondent Vital Ruhain on July 24 and 25, 2012. Another Euroradio’s correspondent – Pavel Svyardlou – is also mentioned in the document. He was arrested on June 22 and sentenced to 15 days of detention for “swearing in public”.  Also, “Reporters without borders” turn the attention to the arrest of photographer Anton Surapin who has been in custody in the KGB prison since July 13 under suspicion in “teddy bears landing” case.
