Josep Guardiola: We came to Minsk to take something from BATE

Chief Coach of "Barcelona" Josep Guardiola conducted a press-conference at "Dynama" stadium just before the game between "BATE" and "Barca".

What is your attitude to BATE as a team?

Guardiola: I cannot say that it is an unknown team. The club has earned its image in Europe. Moreover, the results of such group stage games are difficult to predict. When you make it to the semi-finals, face to face in play-offs, everything is different. Here the game may turn another way. BATE is the best club in Belarus. I wouldn't say that I am in panic. I think we just need to play. We always need some points in store. We take this game with huge responsibility.

Did you study your rival?

Guardiola: This is our obligation. Football is made this way - we are supposed to watch our rivals. Naturally, it's impossible to watch the Belarusian Championship games on TV. So, our scouts watched the most recent games of the local championship and the game against "Sturm". We have our own observations and we will use them in tomorrow's game.

Why the team did not go by the fans, but through the backdoor in the airport?

Guardiola: We could not influence the situation. The point is, when we just landed, they told us "Guys, follow us, get on the bus". And so we did.

Many people take "Barcelona" as an example. So, what is Barcelona's coach supposed to do - whom can he take as an example?

Guardiola: As for the team to look up to, I would not hide that we came here to take something from the local team as well. Our scouts found something out. We took this into consideration. There is something new to learn and this makes our play better.
