Such statements have been made on April 15
by EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs Catherine
Ashton, Commissioner responsible for enlargement and
European neighbourhood policy Štefan Füle and the EP President Martin Schulz. All of them
have underlined that the political prisoners who are still imprisoned should
also be released and rehabilitated.
Štefan Füle has noted that release of Sannikau
and Bandarenka became the first fundamental step which was expected in the
situation when Lukashenka promised to pardon those who asked for this.
Alongside with that, he has underlined that making people confess in something
they never committed does not correspond with the principles of the modern
Europe and human dignity, BelaPAN reports.
Let us remind you,
Andrei Sannikau was released from the colony on April 14, Zmitser Bandarenka -
on April 15.
EU urges to release all the rest political prisoners
Leaders of the European Union welcome release of Belarusian former presidential candidate Andrei Sannikau and his ally Zmitser Bandarenka.
