Estonian President calls for targeted economic sanctions against Belarus
Toomas Hendrik Ilves claimed it at a meeting with Hungarian Foreign Minister János Martonyi on June 1.
The Estonian President thinks that it is necessary to extend a helping hand to the Belarusian people deprived of a constitutional state and democracy. In his opinion, the sanctions should be imposed on the Belarusian regime in a way that they would not affect ordinary citizens.
The European Union should unite in this issue, claims Ilves. BelaPAN refers to him and informs that some countries’ economic interests should not be set above the political decisions needed to help the Belarusian people.
