Ales Byalyatski on short-list of British human rights award

Our countryman is presented in the "Advocacy" nomination, informs BelaPAN.

The "Index on Censorship" annual freedom of expression award will be given for the thirteenth time this year. The prize is awarded to journalists, bloggers, on-line activists, human rights defenders and artists who struggle against censorship in any form all over the world.

Alongside with Byalyatski, there are two more nominees in "Advocacy" - a 15-year-old Malala Yousafazai - a Pakistani education campaigner, the British initiative Hillsborough Family Support Group and the youth movement Girifna from Sudan.

The laureates will be defined this week. The awarding ceremony will take place in London on March 21.
