Fresh vandalism acts on Stalinism purges memorial site in Kurapaty

More than a dozen crosses have been brought down in Kurapaty, politician Pavel Sevyarynets reports. “It looks like a test provocation,” he commented under the photos of vandalized crosses on Facebook. The crosses were brought down in two separate places, he added.
Victims of Stalin’s repressions were buried in mass graves in the forest of Kurapaty. The place is situated in the outskirts of Minsk. A people’s memorial was created there a couple of decades ago. The authorities also installed a monument in Kurapaty not long ago.
