Merkel’s comments on Crimea: on Kremlin and Chancellor’s websites (photo)
The word ‘illegal’ annexation has been removed from the Russian President’s website while it has remained on the German Chancellor’s website.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel gave a press conference in Moscow on May 11 together with Vladimir Putin. She called the annexation of Crimea ‘illegal’ back then:
“The illegal annexation of Crimea violating the international law and the armed conflict in East Ukraine have dramatically undermined our relations,” Merkel commented on relations with Russia. However, all conflicts should be settled peacefully with the help of a dialogue, she added.
The German Chancellor’s comment was published on the Russian President’s website with some changes – the word ‘illegal’ was removed.
