Haves and have nots of 2nd European Games in Minsk

Representatives of the local broadcaster working at the 2nd European Games to be held in Minsk from June 21 to 30 will be allocated up to 191 BYN (91 USD) per day for food. This group includes both the employees of Belteleradiocompany as well as representatives of foreign TV channels. But the volunteers will receive 19 times less -- 10 BYN (4.8 USD) each. The rates of food, accommodation and souvenirs spending have been approved by the resolution of the Belarusian Council of Ministers on May 24, 2019. The document was officially published on May 28.

Belarusian sports judges will receive up to 52 BYN (25USD) per shift on food, while their foreign colleagues -- no more than 191 BYN (91 USD). But the ambulance staff, rescuers and police will also be allocated only 10 BYN (4.8 USD).

According to Euroradio, a soldier's meal in Belarus costs 6 BYN (2.9 USD) per day. One of the latest decrees of Alyaksandr Lukashenka allowed to involve the military in the protection of public order, if necessary. At the same time, they will be equated with the employees of the Interior Ministry. And then the soldiers at the Games will eat for as much as 10 BYN (4.8 USD).

Souvenirs for VIP guests for 1,530 BYN (735 USD).

High-ranking guests of the 2nd European Games will be presented with souvenir sets. The cost of each set is up to 60 basic units or 1,530 BYN (735 USD). Among the VIP guests are official sponsors, heads of state, heads of government, presidents of the International Olympic Committee, the Association of National Olympic Committees and European Olympic Committees.

Ministers of Sport, technical delegates, national sponsors and official suppliers were less fortunate. They will receive souvenir packages of up to 20 basic units.

Everyone else will get much more modest souvenirs. For example, sports delegations of the NOCs of the participating countries, Belarusian and international sports judges and mass media representatives will be presented with kits for up to 5 basic units (127.5 BYN or 61 USD). Volunteers will receive gifts of up to 3 basic units (76.5 BYN or 37 USD).

Accommodation

Presidents and general secretaries of European federations, and in the absence of such organizations -- international federations for sports included in the program of the European Games, are accommodated in 5-star hotels with the cost of accommodation per person reaching 625 BYN (300 USD).

International sports judges, technical delegates and representatives of the home broadcaster company will be accommodated in 3 or 4-star hotels with the cost of accommodation per person up to 375 BYN (180 USD).

The 2nd European Games will be held in Minsk from June 21 to June 30. The exact cost of the Games is still unknown. It is well known though that the cost of the announced tenders alone is more than 100 million BYN (48 mln USD). The opening and closing ceremonies will cost about $12 million.
