Russians have dropped the level of confidence in good relations with Belarus. According to the returns of the latest poll carried out by the Russian pollster Obshchestvennoye Mneniye, only 50% of respondents positively assessed the current Belarus-Russian relations, reports ria.ru. More than three years ago, in October 2015, 79% of respondents said the relations were good.
17% of respondents described the relations between the two countries as bad (6% in 2015).
33% of respondents hope that the relations between Belarus and Russia will improve in one year. 6% remain pessimistic. 24% reckon nothing will have changed one year later.
The poll took place on 19-20 January 2019 in 104 human settlements in 53 provinces of the Russian Federation. The sample was 1500 people. The margin of error does not exceed 3.6%
The respondents were also asked about their attitude towards Belarusian President Aliaksandr Lukashenka. 47% have good attitude towards him (54% in 2015). 40% said they did not care about him. 6% have bad attitude towards Lukashenka (3% in 2015).
