Orsha meat-packing plant CEO is detained

Orsha meat-packing plant CEO Syarhei Kachanau has been detained, TUT.BY reports.

Information about a new director has appeared on the website of Orsha meat-packing plant on December 7. Svyatlana Zhyrauskaya has been appointed to the position.

Syarhei Kachanau was arrested at the weekend, some sources report.

Meanwhile, the Investigation Committee, Department of the Interior, State Control Committee and the regional office of the public prosecutor have no information about the detention of the ex-director. The KGB press service is not commenting on the news either.

Senior deputy head of the regional Executive Committee and the administration of Homel meat-packing pant were arrested on December 2. They were suspected of fraud: expired meat from shops was returned to the plant, processed and sent back to shops as minced meat.

The detentions in Orsha and Homel are related, TUT.BY reports.
