Moscow metro accident - death toll reaches 22

The condition of five casualties is considered as very serious. 126 people were sent to hospitals. Russia’s health minister Veronica Skvortsova provided such information, ITAR-TASS reports.

Russian Vice-PM Olga Golodets informed that there are residents of 12 regions of Russia and five foreigners among the victims.

This morning, a Moscow metro train came off the railings at the space interval between the stations Victory Park and Slavyanski Boulevard. Among the possible reasons for the accident they claim the carriage fault, slamming on the brakes due to the surge of voltage in the contact railing and ogee failure. The law-enforcement agencies have started a criminal case on the fact of the accident.
