The Central Election Commission has proposed to hold elections to the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus on November 17, 2019. But the official date of the election has not been set yet. The Chair of the Central Election Commission, Lidziya Yarmoshyna said in the commentary to Euroradio that there is not much time left for the preparation of the elections. She also said, however, that there was nothing to worry about.

Lidziya Yarmoshyna: "Elections are to be announced three months before the date of their holding. Therefore, there is still time. Yes, there isn't much time, but it's still enough. If we talk about the November 17 elections, they should be announced before August 17. We have even more than a month. I think that by the end of July the head of state will have decided on the date of the elections and it will become known to the public and to us all".

For those who plan to participate in the election campaign as a candidate, the CEC Chair advises not to wait for the official announcement of the parliamentary elections date but to promote themselves and their intentions by all available means.

As for the current MPs, Yarmoshyna said, in any case they will meet for the next session on October 2. And they will work until the powers of the next convocation are recognized.

"I think they will have the authority until December," said Yarmoshyna.
