EU Commissioner: The opening of a representative office of European Commission will consolidate relations of the EU and Belarusian citizens

"I hope that the opening of a representative office of the European Commission in Minsk will create more opportunities for further development of our relations”, - claimed an EU commissioner for External Relations and European Neighbourhood Policy Benita Ferrero-Waldner. Let us remind you that an Agreement on creation, privileges and immunity of a representative office of the European Commission in Minsk was signed by the Belarusian authorities and the European Commission in Brussels today.

Ms. Benita Ferrero-Waldner also expressed her confidence in the fact that the opening of a representative office of the European Commission would consolidate relations between the EU and Belarusian citizens. She reminded about suggestions made by the European Union to Belarus.

"We are ready to restore relations with Belarus and to develop them as soon as Belarus makes certain step towards democracy”, - said Benita Ferrero-Waldner. She also reminded that she was waiting for the release of Alyaksandr Kazulin.
