Belarusian language spoken again by key sports commentator

Game of the hockey team Dynamo-Minsk with the Chelyabinsk Tractor on the Belarus-5 TV channel was unexpectedly commented in Belarusian. At the beginning of the match, commentator Uladzimir Navitsky, who thirty years ago developed the Belarusian sports terminology, happily noted that the language is back into hockey coverage after many years of absence.

Uladzimir Navitsky: "After a long break, the broadcast will air in the Belarusian language. I very well understand that after this broadcast,  the number of "experts" of the Belarusian language who cannot tie two words together will increase manyfold. But I understand that it is necessary, and I draw the fire on myself."

The head of the press service of the Dynamo-Minsk hockey club, Raman Strongin, told Euroradio that the team approves of the idea to comment on matches in Belarusian, but is not the initiator.

Raman Strongin novel: "We always welcome the use of the Belarusian language and use it in our work."
