Communist prosecutor convicted in Czechia

The Czech society is commenting on the decision of Prague City Court that sentenced a prosecutor Lyudmila Bzhazova Polyodneva to 8 years of imprisonment for demanding death penalty for a Czech anticommunist Milada Horakava 57 years ago. The prosecutor’s lawyer says that his client did not know that the documents of the case were forged when she sentenced Horakava to death in 1950. The former prosecutor is 86 years old now and she is unlikely to be imprisoned. The judge Peter Brown thinks that the precedent is important in this case.

The Czech Court has pronounced a moral condemnation of the crimes of the communist regime for the first time. Horakava was hanged together with the other two activists of the Czech resistance due to false accusations 57 years ago.
