Belarus left opposition condemns anti-communist law in Ukraine

Belarusian left party Fair World condemned Ukraine for adopting the law prohibiting propaganda of communist ideology and the use of communist names and symbols. Also, the law prohibits the promotion of Nazism. The Belarusian left were outraged by the fact that communism and Nazism "were made equal in this way.

The party is also outraged by the simultaneous adoption of the law in Ukraine honoring the memory of the fighters for Ukrainian independence in the twentieth century, which include the OUN, UPA and other organizations that the Fair World called "disreputable".

The Belarusian left also felt it necessary to remind the Ukrainian authorities that the Belarusian village of Khatyn was burned "by Ukrainian collaborators," as well as "the fact of the OUN and UPA collaboration with the Nazis."

The adoption of these laws, according to the Fair World party, "aims to distort the historical memory of the Ukrainian people, trample the sacred memory of the millions who died in the struggle against Nazism, insult and humiliate the veterans, the Great Patriotic War soldiers, prisoners of concentration camps, all of these fighters for freedom and independence of Ukraine," BelaPAN quoted the address of the Belarusian left.
