Belarus' foreign debt stands at $16.6 billion

As of 1 September 2018, Belarus' foreign debt amounted to $16.6 billion (as of 1 August at  $16.5 billion). It has decreased by $173.1 million (exchange rate fluctuations taken into account) or 1% since the beginning of the year. In the local currency terms, the state debt of Belarus amounted to BYN 44 billion as of 1 September (BYN42.1 billion by 1 August), reports the Ministry of Finance.

In the first eight months, Belarus borrowed $1.632,5 billion from foreign lenders, includng almost $614 mllion from the Russian government and banks. The government spent $1.637 billion to service the foreign debt in the same period.
