Yanukovich: I never ordered to shoot at people

Victor Yanukovich still considers himself to be the legitimate President of Ukraine. ‘The radicals’ have not fulfilled the agreements reached on February 21, and kept shooting in Kiev, he said. Yanukovich claimed that he had never ordered the riot police to shoot at protesters. He ‘couldn’t lift his hand against them’, he said.

He asked Vladimir Putin to bring Russian troops to Ukraine, the former Ukrainian President confirmed. The legitimacy of the presidential election appointed for May 25 ‘is still questionable’, Yanukovich thinks.

He mentioned ‘armed radicals’, ‘bandits’ and ‘nationalists’ with ‘a fascist background’ who did not obey anyone many times during the interview. Yanukovich regrets that no timely measures were taken in response to their actions.
