Veronika Cherkasova's murder unsolved for 6 years
Today it's been 6 years since the journalist Veronika Cherkasova was murdered. Her friends and colleagues will visit the cemetery where she was buried, on this day. Let us remind you, the journalist of the newspaper "Solidarity" was found murdered in her own apartment on October 20, 2004. There were more than 40 knife wounds on her body. The crime is still unsolved.
Private person's wish is not enough to investigate this case. This was informed in the comment to Euroradio by the "Solidarity" editor Aliaksandr Starykevich. "Solidarity" was the one who tried to conduct private investigation of the journalist's murder.
Starykevich: "Nothing has moved in this case recently. What we need is the wish of the law-enforcement authorities to investigate the case, not just private persons".
Minsk Public Prosecutor's office continues operative investigation measures with regard to Cherkasova's case. However, the investigation is still suspended due to the absense of the guilty person. This was informed to BelaPAN by the Chief Assistant of the Public Prosecutor of Minsk Siarhej Balashou.
