First shipment of Belarusian potash fertilizers to arrive in the US in October

The first ship carrying Belarusian potash fertilizers will arrive in the US in October. It will bring 30,000 tonnes of potassium chloride to the port of New Orleans. This is reported by industry agency Argus Media.
This will be the first shipment of fertilizers that the United States has purchased from Belarus in the past four years.
The deliveries became possible after the US administration lifted sanctions against Belaruskali in March 2026 in exchange for the release of 123 political prisoners. The sanctions had been in effect since August 2021. In addition to Belaruskali, other companies affiliated with it later also fell under the restrictions.
Negotiations on the supply of potash fertilizers were also held during the recent meeting between Lukashenka and John Coale the US president's envoy for Belarus. Lukashenka secured the unfreezing of around $44 million held at Citibank from previous fertilizer deliveries.
