United States Ambassador to the United Nation speaks about Russia’s plan

Russian President Vladimir Putin suggested ‘a peaceful plan’ to Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko in order to lift responsibility from Russia as regards the agreements signed in Minsk, United States Ambassador to the United Nation Samantha Power said.  It happened at a meeting of the UN Security Council, UNIAN reports.

According to Power, the plan would seek to legitimize territorial gains made by separatists in September as well as Russian personnel and equipment on the territory of Ukraine.

"We have seen such plans in Abkhazia, South Ossetia and Transdniestria,” Power said. When Poroshenko refused to accept Putin’s suggestion, Russia accused Ukraine of unwillingness to make peace. “Let us pull the veil away from Putin's peace plan and call it for what it is - a Russian occupation plan,” Samantha Power claimed.

If Russia really wants peace, it should stick to Minsk agreements and remove all military personnel and equipment from Ukraine, release hostages including pilot Nadezhda Savchenko and help Ukraine provide control over the state border.
