UCP to protest near KGB today

The United Civil Party is planning to conduct a picket of solidarity with political prisoners in Minsk at 2 p.m. today. The picketers will gather in the public garden where a monument to Dzerzhynski is installed. The main aim of the action is to demand to release and acquit political prisoners, ucpb.org reports. The action will also be dedicated to missing opponents to the regime: Yury Zaharanka, Victar Hanchar, Anatol Krasouski and Dzmitry Zavadski.

The UCP and its leader Anatol Lyabezka conducted a similar picket last week – on July 28. It was held in the centre of the capital (near GUM) as part of the party’s signature collection picket.
