“Troitsa” tests new album on Poles. Belarusians are next (photo)

An ethno-trio “Troitsa” has a lot of news – first, Ivan Kirchuk has shaved off his beard, second, the band has recorded a new programme “Pasque-flower” presented in Warsaw on May 6. Belarusians will get the news only at the concert in the concert hall “Minsk” on May 17.

There were many Belarusians among the people who arrived at Warsaw house of culture to listen to new songs of “Troitsa”: students, journalists, authors and musicians. All of them knew what they were going to attend and seemed highly pleased. Poles had not listened to “Troitsa” for a long time – the band did not come to Poland, to put it more precisely, they passed by it.

Ivan Kirchuk, the leader and vocalist of the band says:

"The previous three CDs of “Troitsa” were out in Holland. We had a lot of work there – we gave concerts and took part in various festivals. That is why we passed by Warsaw many times and did not take part in any Polish festivals or concerts. I think we should not travel far because we have recorded our new disc in Poland – we can cross the border and present Belarusian ethnical music in its modern interpretation”.

The reaction of the audience showed that Poles liked Belarusian ethnical music: some of them did not want to stay in their seats and listened to the concert dancing and jumping.

By the way, there was something to jump to: “Troitsa” preformed many old hits alongside with the new programme – “Halya, Halya”, “My apple-tree”, “And the matchmaker boasted”.

However, the majority of songs were new. Ivan Ivanavich was very eloquent describing every song and told people about the customs connected with them. He mentioned the grannies who sang them the material.

“Troitsa” was traditionally encored thrice after the programme had ended. It happened in spite of Kirchuk’s request: “Ladies and gentlemen, we are going to sing the last song for you, please do not encore us because we will not drag our “toys” (numerous ethnical musical instruments) back to the stage”.
.
But the audience applauded so generously that they had to play an encore, and then one more encore and a third one.

“Troitsa” has already returned to Belarus and is getting ready for the second presentation of its disc, in the motherland. Yury Dzmitryeu, “Troitsa”’s guitarist, describes what Belarusian listeners can expect and when:

“A presentation of our disc is planned to take place in the concert hall “Minsk” on May 17. Of course, we will try to present the majority of our new songs there, but you see, sometimes it is very difficult to do it because it is not always possible to sing everything recorded in a studio. But we will try to! And we will perform some of our hits at the end”.

Well, see you in “Minsk” on May 17.
