No government-opposition round-table discussion

Let us remind you that Alyaksandr Lukashenka suggested on August 29 that all the political forces should have joined a round-table discussion. The state leader invited the European Union and Russia to take part in the negotiations. The opposition and the European Union have been actively discussing the suggestion and its terms for the whole week.

However, the state agency BelTA has published two materials aimed against the round-table discussion. The leader of the ONT TV channel, Ryhor Kisel, and the editor-in-chief of the magazine “Belarusian Thought”, Vadzim Hihin, are their authors. According to them, Lukashenka suggested that the opposition should gather and elaborate their own ideas without the government. The same has been mentioned in the programme “In the centre of attention”.
