Ministry of Information: “Nasha Niva” readers’ letters exercise pressure

The Ministry of Information is not going tor reconsider its position as regards “Nasha Niva” and “Narodnaya Volya”. The prosecution of the newspapers will continue, said Liliya Ananich, deputy Minister of Information, to Euroradio:

“We will have it out with “Narodnaya Volya” and “Nasha Niva” in court. The proceedings have just started. Let’s not hurry”, - said the deputy Minister.

Even the numerous letters sent by the newspapers’ readers will not make the Ministry of Information withdraw its claim.  Liliya Ananich considers them to be “an attempt to exercise pressure” on the Ministry. She says that the attempt is “hopeless”:

Lіlіya Ananіch: “We respect readers very much. We reply to every letter. We see that the letters look like carbon copies... You know, this attempt to exercise pressure on the Ministry of Information is hopeless”.

Let us remind you that lawyers of the Belarusian Association of Journalists think that if the cases of “Nasha Niva” and “Narodnaya Volya” are sent to court, the newspapers’ future will be decided. Legally, the judge can answer to the Ministry’s claim “without going into the heart of the matter” because both newspapers have enough warnings, - thinks BAJ deputy chairperson Andrei Bastunets.
