The United Nations (UN)
General Assembly and Secretariat leaders supported Belarus' approaches to the idea of
developing an plan of action against trafficking in human beings, BELTA
reported. Natallya Pyatkevich, deputy head of Alyaksandr Lukashenka's Presidential
Administration, discussed the matter with Miguel
d'Escoto Brockmann, president of the UN General Assembly, and Deputy Secretary
General Asha-Rose Migiro.
The meeting focused on Belarus' proposals aimed at better
coordinated global efforts to fight human trafficking and at developing a plan
of action in the area. The UN officials noted the good timing of Belarus'
proposals and backed its intention to seek other nations support for a
resolution sponsored by the country.
