Polish president remains tough on Russia

Poland is not to seek approval from Russia for the location of the U.S. missile defense shield in Europe, the Polish president Lech Kaczynski told the Czech newspaper "Mlada fronta - Dnes".

It is up to Poland to decide on its relations with America, the Polish president said. He also noted that a visit by the U.S. president scheduled for early June this year would convince the Poles that a missile defense base was a good idea for Poland. Russia objects strongly to the America's plans to accomodate its anti-missile system in the Czech Republic and Poland.
