Permission from the chief doctor necessary to get on a pig farm

The head of state personally warned heads of pig farms about criminal liability in case necessary measures were not taken to biologically protect  pig farms from African swine fever.

"Draconian measures will be taken against those responsible," said the head of state. Lukashenka demanded that pig farms had access mode "on the level of a nuclear facility"! No more, no less!

On the nuclear power plant administration site we found the rules on how to enter the territory. There are even organized tours, but you need to provide passport details.

A request from the Belarusian media will be considered within 14 days, from foreign ones - within a month.

Staff of the Belarusian NPP say you will not get into the territory just for the fun of it.

"Every employee has an electronic chip. It is only possible to get through the turnstile at the construction site using the chip. Previously, this protection system was not in place, but it was not needed -  only bulldozers worked here," say workers at the Belarusian NPP.

The Sosny institute - also seems to be a secure facility. They say there is access control, security. We asked them if it is possible to get there without control.

"Try it. Under certain conditions you will, of course, get to us," they said hinting at journalist card."

We wondered if there are precautions like that on pig farms.

The Sozh agricultural complex in the Gomel region had special protection against swine fever even before the Lukashenka order. And now even more so. Some objects were even surrounded by the third wall was -- all for the sake of security.

"We have increased security, more disinfectants, there is a shower. There is a special unit overseeing the way everything is done. For non-compliance with disinfection regulations one can get dismissed. However, we haven't had cases like that, just admonitions," said the head of the complex adding that the most expensive of this is disinfectants.

We asked the administration of the Uskhodni pig farm near Baranovichi if we could get to their director.

"You can get to him, he is in the administration building. If he is on the site, they'll call upon him. But you cannot pass into the area. Even new employees are not allowed in until after medical examination," explained the staff in the Uskhodni waiting room.

It should be recalled that as recently as in last spring there was a broke out of African swine fever. Now the employees talk about new sanitation rules and chief doctor's personal authorization to visit the pig farm.
