Minimum payment introduced in Minsk taxis
A minimum taxi trip cost has been introduced in Minsk on June 6. It totals 4950 BRB. If you take a taxi you will pay 1100 BRB first and the meter will show the number 4950 until you drive for more than 3.5 kilometers.
We asked a controller of one of taxi companies about the reason for such a change:
“It is done to prevent people from taking a taxi for a 200-meters trip. The driver will have to come from another district to pick them up. This payment is for 3.5 kilometers. 1 kilometer costs 1100”.
