Lukashenka orders to find out who delays construction of nuclear power plant

“We have understood that the construction of our own nuclear power system will be the only guarantee of the national security”. The appeal was made by the head of the state Alyaksandr Lukashenka at a meeting dedicated to the construction of the Belarusian nuclear power plant that took place on October 11. According to him, “Belarus will not survive” without its own nuclear power plant.

Lukashenka claims that the decision about the construction was not political. It was caused by “the necessity to provide for our national security in the situation of depletion of world gas and oil resources, irregularity of their supplies and increasing prices”.

At the same time, the leader of the state noted that power engineering had already turned into a political issue instead of being a simply economic sphere.

Lukashenka expressed his dissatisfaction with the slow rate of preparation for the construction of the plant. He ordered to find out who was delaying the process.
